Brief: Two installations open at the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art
BY LESLIE JORDAN CLARY
In commemoration of the Cartier Foundation’s 30 years promoting emerging and cutting-edge artists worldwide, two new exhibits have opened in Paris. “The Inhabitants” is an installation by Argentinean painter Guillermo Kuitca that is meant to exemplify the foundation’s relationship with artists and artworks and the way one project connects to the next. The other installation, “Musings on a Glass Box,” was created specifically for the Cartier Foundation by interdisciplinary design studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro. In a first for the Foundation, the building itself, designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel, is used as raw material for the work. Both exhibits run from Oct. 25 to Feb. 22.
